 Sr. Linux System Administrator/Storage Engineer

We are looking for an experienced system administrator to manage our corporate IT infrastructure and assist with scaling our production ad serving environment. The position requires a very strong background in Linux system administration and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a mixed environment of Linux and Windows systems and an appetite for learning new technologies quickly. Experience working in startup companies is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain our growing storage infrastructure (primarily EMC and Brocade gear)
  • Provision storage to meet application requirements
  • Install and maintain Linux, Windows, VMware operating systems
  • Setup and configure server hardware and deploy virtual machines
  • Automate routine tasks using deployment and configuration management systems
  • Optimization and performance tuning, especially for Oracle DB and other high I/O applications
  • Configure and update monitoring tools (such as Zenoss, Nagios, Opsview)
  • Assist with corporate Windows and Exchange systems and integration points, such as AD

Required skills

  • Expert-level Linux system administration skills
  • Extensive experience with enterprise storage technology, such as EMC or NetApp arrays
  • Strong background in fibre channel SAN technologies (zoning, multipathing, ISL, FCP)
  • Firm understanding of storage concepts (RAID levels, LUNs, volume managers, file systems)
  • Experience operating corporate messaging (Exchange 2007, mobile devices, anti-spam)
  • Experience working with enterprise class virtualization products such as VMware
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in complex environments
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong scripting skills in any common language (Perl, Bash, Python, Ruby, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with ActiveDirectory, particularly for cross-platform authentication
  • Familiarity with common software engineering tools (SVN, bug tracking, wiki)
  • Familiarity with clustering technologies (especially RedHat Cluster Suite)
  • Understanding of IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
  • Experience managing network gear a plus
  • Experience with enterprise flash SSD storage a plus
  • Experience supporting Hadoop and Microstrategy a plus
